About
Hello!
I’m Aimee Kick, the founder and lead designer of West Hollar llc. I started West Hollar in 2019 after spending years as a working studio artist. My love of art-making spread to the world of interior design, feeling compelled that the best art we can make is the art we live our lives in. I am very interested in the connection between our living spaces and our quality of life and intrinsic beliefs about ourselves and the world.
My Design Philosophy
Our home is the first lens in which we see ourselves. An uninspired and disorganized home can make us feel scrambled and powerless. A well designed and thoughtful home can make us feel optimistic and inspired about our lives and potential. I love transforming a space and watching the inhabitants within it grow in confidence and assurance in the years following their home re-design. Clients often mark this experience as a turning point in their lives for feeling more peaceful, socially engaged, and eager to share their home with their friends, neighbors, and families. I often see their relief at having their home be a source of comfort and refuge rather than a source of need or chaos. It is a true delight and privilege to see their lives so positively affected by support and good design.
What I do
I come alongside clients to help them feel more calm, self-possessed, and inspired in their home or workspace. I do this through understanding their functional needs and creating order to support their needs, and implementing a visual design plan that reflects my clients values and personalities. Depending on your needs, time, and budget, this work can be done through a consultation and written plan, a color consultation, or a full re-design.
My work spans a number of styles, though my unifying themes are artful, clean, and calm with an unexpected use of color and texture. I have worked primarily in modern styles, but would love opportunities to explore more eclectic and whimsical spaces or even traditional homes looking for a creative point of view.
Outside of Design
Apart from designing, I have a great love for literature, movies, and most forms of storytelling. I never turn down a nice long walk or an opportunity to learn about nature in all its forms and uses. I’m also no stranger to a sewing machine and have been sewing since I was fifteen. I have made dozens of quilts over the years as well as recently dabbling in clothes making, upholstery, and tailoring.
